The Tokyo Game Show 2025 has now taken place. Developers showcased their latest games and announced the projects they are currently working on.
Recently, Microsoft announced their latest game, Forza Horizon 6, during the Xbox Game Showcase held at the Tokyo Game Show 2025. It appears that the rumors circulating earlier were indeed accurate.
Official Announcement of Forza Horizon 6

During the recent Xbox Game Showcase, Microsoft concluded the segment by unveiling a teaser trailer for their upcoming game, Forza Horizon 6, eagerly anticipated by fans.
This short teaser video shows a garage displaying various license plates from different countries, similar to those seen in previous Forza Horizon installments. As rumored, the garage is revealed to be located in Japan.
Currently, Forza Horizon 6 has officially been announced to take place in Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. The game is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series consoles, and Xbox Game Pass.
Releases for other platforms, such as PlayStation 5, will follow after the initial launch. However, the specific release date for the PS5 version has not yet been announced.
Microsoft states that they plan to reveal even more details early in 2026 and also encourage fans to follow the official channels of the game for the latest updates.
Introduce Seasonal Changes in the Game

Forza Horizon inherently features the transition of seasons, starting from its fourth installment set along the coast of England. This feature has been progressively improved with each edition and is notably present in the fifth installment set in Mexico.
Recently, the transition of seasons has not only affected appearances and the environment visually. According to Xbox Wire, Don Arceta, the art director of this game, explains that the seasonal changes dramatically influence the landscape and the world itself, carrying deeper cultural significance for Japanese culture.
This change will be noticeable in the environment, activities, and even the sounds within the game, such as the train noises, summer wind sounds, and more.
Interestingly, these adjustments were developed in collaboration with a Japanese cultural consultant named Kyoko Yamashita.
Kyoko explained that the development team aims to go beyond simply showing “postcard images” and wants to showcase a vibrant, living world.
As a consultant, her role involves assisting in the detailed development of the environment, which enhances the game’s immersiveness.
Forza Horizon 6 is expected to showcase gameplay footage at the beginning of 2026, which is also when the developers plan to release the game. Based on the typical release schedule of this series, it is estimated that the game will launch between September and November.
