Forza Horizon 6 Developer – Forza Horizon 6 features various elements, allowing players to drive their cars at full speed during races. For example, trees in the forest can be bumped into and broken without causing the car to stop.
However, some in-game objects such as Cherry Blossom Trees or temples are intentionally designed by the developers to be indestructible, even when hit by the Player. What might be the reason the developers chose to make these objects invulnerable?
Reason Why Forza Horizon 6 Developers Made Certain Objects, Like Temples and Cherry Blossom Trees

In an exclusive interview with Japan Times, Torben Ellert, the Design Director of Forza Horizon 6, discussed the features included in the game. One of the topics covered was how almost every object in the game is destructible. However, some specific objects that hold cultural significance in Japan—such as temples and cherry blossom trees—are intentionally designed to remain unbreakable.
Torben Ellert revealed that nearly all of the trees present in the game can be destroyed. This feature is intended to ensure that players’ exploration across the expansive world remains enjoyable and satisfying. However, certain trees, such as the Sakura trees, are an exception and cannot be broken, as they are iconic elements and significant cultural symbols in Japan.
Additionally, he also clarified that other objects, such as temples or other significant cultural elements in Japan, cannot be destroyed. This decision is part of the developer’s effort to respect and preserve important cultural heritage from Japan within the game Forza Horizon 6.
Furthermore, they intentionally restrict players from destroying access points to the temple or related objects. The purpose of this is to prevent players from being tempted to drive recklessly in an attempt to reach that location, which holds cultural significance in Japan.
Declaration by Torben Ellert

Below is a statement from Torben Ellert:
“All trees within the game environment can be destroyed to make exploring the world enjoyable and satisfying. However, some types of trees, such as cherry blossom trees, are exceptions.”
“This is because these trees are iconic symbols of Japanese culture. Additionally, certain temples and other cultural elements are protected to prevent players from unexpectedly driving their cars through sacred sites or locations of significant cultural importance.”
