The Predator Thronos Might Be A Gaming Dream Setup

Acer unveiled an insane gaming setup at IFA 2018, one of the world’s biggest tradeshows for consumer electronics. While some may refer to the monster rig as merely a “gaming chair” it doesn’t really do the product much justice. Just take a look at the below picture – it looks much more like it was ripped out of an X-Wing rather than a chair you’d find in front of a desk.

Its intense specs match up to the insanity of its looks. The thing weighs a whopping 485 lbs. or about 220 kilos. You might actually need to rent a crane to lift it up and get it into your house!

The crazy cockpit has numerous parts that are motorized and can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. The seat also has built-in “rumble” motors that are synced up with in-game effects, making them even more immersive.

It features three 27 inch monitors that can be set up to span the view of a single game. Early tests from engadet and Tom’s Guide suggest that this is most ideal for flight sims and racing games. This makes a lot of sense as three separate monitors would do a great job simulating the view from an airplane or racing cockpit.

Acer has already released a video showcasing a lot of these functions which you can catch below.

Engadet also has a very good video review of the product that’s definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in seeing a first-hand demo of the Thronos.

Acer’s Predator Thronos is hands down one of the most unique products to hit the gaming market in a very long time. While no price  has been announced yet, it’s sure to be a hefty one.

I’d love to give it a test drive. At the same time, the Thronos seems so special that I’d actually be a bit hesitant to pull the trigger without first trying it out.
