Rust Developer Accuses Delta Force of Stealing Their Assets

The development of the video game Rust is closely linked to asset creation. Many games develop their own assets to ensure their game appears unique and stands out from other titles available in the market.

Unfortunately, a new allegation has surfaced from a Rust developer accusing Delta Force of stealing assets from their game. Is the claim that TiMi Studio stole these assets true?

Did Rust Developer Accuse Delta Force of Stealing Assets?

Through his personal Twitter/X account, Alistair McFarlane, the COO of Facepunch Studios, posted a tweet sharing a loading screen while tagging the official Delta Force account. In the post, he suggested that the assets used in the game appear to be quite similar to his own.

Alistair sarcastically thanked Delta Force for being fans of Rust and asked them to delete the assets suspected of being stolen. He also mentioned that if they were interested in collaborating, Delta Force could contact him.

In another tweet, he displayed a suspected stolen asset. This asset was originally created by a developer on the Facepunch team, whose username is ArtOfPilgrim.

Alistair also expressed his appreciation for the cinematic trailer that Delta Force shared to promote the latest season, which features Ahsarah and a new character named Gizmo. He believes the trailer was very well-made.

Based on the comparison of the two images shared, many details appear to be quite similar, from the color of the cables to the placement of the tape wrapped around C4, which is also positioned identically in both images.

The Issue Has Been Resolved

After some time, Alistair announced that the problem was cleared up, as Delta Force had contacted them and apologized for the incident. He also mentioned that there was no request to delete the trailer.

The Delta Force team also responded to the tweet by expressing gratitude for the understanding, explaining that the asset they used was purchased from an online store. They admitted they did not verify the asset properly and stated they would take full responsibility for the incident.

The account also expressed appreciation for Alistair, who did not request the trailer to be removed, and announced that they will strengthen their development procedures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
