Fortnite One-Time Missile Event Wrecks Havoc In The Skies

The countdown to Fortnite‘s first one-time event trickled down to zero yesterday. Soon afterwards, the skies erupted with a flurry of activity lasting only a few minutes. At precisely 7:30pm CET/1:30am HKT on Saturday, a missile was propelled into the skies from a launch pad in the evil lair.

After gaining considerable altitude, the missile shed its boosters, which landed in Anarchy Acres, and began its descent downwards. Through a thrilling laser targeting animation, the weapon set its sights on Tilted Towers. Moments later, the missile careened downwards only to ricochet away meters from the highest rooftops thanks to some kind of imperceptible protective dome above the town.

The missile then performed a mad dash, bouncing and teleporting uncontrollably between various parts of the map through a kind of biosphere-like shield covering the map. Finally, reappearing around Loot Lake, the projectile shot upwards only to hit an invisible barrier only to leave a rather noticeable crack in the firmament.

Players lucky enough to find a match witnessed the first unique event in all its glory with many opting to stay in the skies after dropping from the bus. Numerous others were left disappointed as they sat around in a sizeable queues out of the game and completely missed the one-time show. In an unprecedented reduction in hostilities, those in-game looked to the skies instead of seeking out loot and enemies. Of course, a small percentage made use of the peculiar circumstances to pick off easy targets. Anyone playing since the event can admire the new fissure in all its glory above Moisty Mire.
