Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 players have discovered a clever way to speed around multiplayer maps at breakneck speed thanks to a nifty, notably effective little glitch.
The exploit is limited to the Multiplayer mode and involves making use of the perk system, specifically the Skulker perk, which allows players to move faster while crouched and prone. In general, squatting impacts the speed of movement negatively, but load up Skulker and the improvement is noticeable. Yet, this newly-uncovered glitch takes the bonus to new heights without any of the downsides of being bent down. By equipping the Skulker perk multiple times, the effect is stacked up to three times, effectively bestowing the user with incredible speed.
To trigger the exploit there are a number of rather convoluted steps involving switching lobbies between lobbies in quick succession during perk selection while repeatedly choosing Skulker until all the perk slots are filled up, but the results are definitely worth it. Once the game starts, players can crouch then scurry around the map in rather comic fashion.
Take a look at the glitch in action just above. A fair number of players who’ve encountered the glitch in game understandably believed they were dealing with a hack. Once news spread, it became apparent that the Skulker switcheroo was to blame with Reddit providing numerous
Fortunately, this isn’t viable in Black Ops 4’s Blackout battle royale mode due to the way perks work. They pop up as lootable items rather than as attributes to choose from before the game starts as is the case in Multiplayer.
Treyarch have commented on the matter, saying a fix is in the works for an upcoming updated. In the meantime, players caught using the exploit will be sanctioned as follows:
‘First offense: Player will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, Emblems, and Paintjobs reset, will have online splitscreen privileges revoked, and will have their Leaderboard entries deleted.
Extreme or repeat offenses: Player will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, Emblems, and Paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in Leaderboards.’
