The folks at Blizzard released an official post titled “Diablo At Blizzcon 2018” in which they comment on fan speculation and theories regarding the franchise. Back in June, a job listing on the Blizzard site indicated that the company was looking for a “Dungeon Artist” for Diablo, getting many fans (myself included) hyped for a sequel to Diablo 3. The new post from Blizzard makes it seem that we’re unlikely to get any big announcement on this at Blizzcon 2018.
We know for a fact that the company is working on “multiple Diablo projects” as community manager Brandy Camel confirmed in a video posted on Twitter in early August.

These projects were referenced again in Blizzard’s latest post:
“These are very exciting times—we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them . . . when the time is right.”
They followed this saying, “While we won’t be ready to announce all of our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show.”

Translation: Blizzard just isn’t ready yet to talk about Diablo 4. It’s possible they’re not in a point in development where they feel comfortable showing us their progress or it may be a more business-related decision not to reveal anything at Blizzcon. Despite not giving fans what they truly want – an update on Diablo 4 – they’ll try to appease us with some other Diablo-related news such as the animated Netflix adaptation that was hinted at last month.
