Scrubs Actor Also Complains About Fortnite Dance Theft

Yesterday we reported how rapper “2 Milly” threatened to sue Epic Games for stealing his dance moves. Apparently, he wasn’t the only star voicing his discontent with the companies’ actions over the weekend – Scrubs actor Donald Faison also spoke out against Epic for ripping his moves.

Vulture (via Eurogamer) reported on how the cast of the popular TV series reunited for the first time in years at the Vulture Festival. During an audience Q&A session, someone in the crowd asked Faison if he could perform his token dance, aka “Poison.” Here’s what he had to say about the request:

“If you want to see it, you can play Fortnite, because they jacked that shit!”

According to Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, a representative for Epic Games actually approached him about the legality of using t he dance, to which he responded with something along the lines of “it’s fine because it’s just a character dancing.”

Still, considering that both Faison and 2 Milly both made up their dances themselves and Epic is profiting off of their creations, it feels rather sketchy.

While the law is on the side of the company in that they don’t necessarily need to compensate them for their moves, it honestly seems like they’re abusing a loophole that hasn’t been filled yet. Maybe it’s only a matter of time before the law catches up with the times and dance moves can be copyrighted.
