Diablo 3 Amiibos Might Be In The Works

According to a new datamine of Diablo 3 for Switch, Nintendo might be hard at work putting together new Amiibos for the game that will unlock a slew of in-game bonuses.

As reported be Eurogamer, Redditor u/justMaku revealed that a datamine of the latest Diablo 3 patch shows that the game will support 3 types of Amiibos. They are as follows:

1. Default/Generic Amiibo

2. Treasure Goblin Amiibo

3. Demon Amiibo

In u/justMaku’s post, he notes that “The first two will spawn a portal leading to some location (controlled by server so can’t be datamined) while the demon amiibo will spawn a powerful demon on the map.”

It isn’t clear where the default/generic Amiibo’s portal will take the player, but chances are, the treasure goblin Amiibo will open a portal to the “Vault” where players can obtain huge amounts of gold, gems, and even loot by defeating the zone’s boss – Greed.

The Demon Amiibo’s spawning of a “powerful demon” could be just a generic champion pack or unique monster, or even possibly a special Switch-only monster.

In order to prevent the abuse of these spawns, there is a cooldown for each portal:

22 hours (1320 minutes) for portals.

45 minutes for demons.

This is all the info we can gather from the datamine so far. Given that BlizzCon is this weekend, there’s a good chance that we’ll be finding out more about these Amiibos in the next few days. Stay tuned as we’ll be definitely reporting on this and other BlizzCon announcements as we’re bound to get tons of sneak peeks at upcoming games/content that Blizzard has in store for us.
