Weekly Trailer Round-Up: Hitman 2, Fallout 76 & More

Weekly Trailer Round-Up: Hitman 2, Fallout 76 & More

This week’s round-up is heavily focused on triple A releases. It comes with the territory. October and November are set to be one of the busiest release periods of the year with the big studios all seemingly conspiring to make us broke in the space of a few weeks. Geralt of Rivia makes an appearance, Fallout goes chirpy, Minecraft is back, and more.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

CD Projekt Red adds a bit more meat to the bones of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales with this story trailer, though not much of it all things considered. The only real certainty is that Thronebreaker is about betrayal. We did, however, spot a cameo from none other than Geralt of Rivia himself. As for what his role is, we’ll have to wait for the full release, but given his past antics, he’ll sure pop up to provide a form of monster extermination assistance at some point.

Total War: Three Kingdoms

Total War: Three Kingdoms is Creative Assembly’s latest mass-scale war simulator set during tumultuous final days of the Han Dynasty in China. It’s a time of feuding warlords scrambling to take control of the land. The trailer is all about a limited pack called Yellow Turban Rebellion, which you can pre-order on Steam and get a few goodies plus the full game when it releases next year.

Fallout 76

Though covered in greater detail here, Bethesda’s latest trailer provides context for Fallout 76 with the complete opening intro sequence. Of note is the uncharacteristic upbeat tone of the intro sequence. Fallout is generally about post-nuclear devastation, while this time around concepts like renewal and rebirth take center stage. Now if only Bethesda could release an actual extended gameplay trailer.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Launch Trailer

Ubisoft seem to be popping these out every week in the lead up to release. An origin story mixed in with a burdensome coming of age saga, the trailer sets the scene for our adventures in Ancient Greece. Although, given Ubisoft’s been rather generous with details and videos, this one doesn’t really shade any new light on the title.

Hitman 2 – Colombia Trailer

The release of Hitman 2 is just around the corner and this week’s trailer gives us some insight into one of the six missions entrusted to Agent 47 in the game. We travel to Colombia where 47 must down three of the chief pawns in the notoriously ruthless Delgado cartel. The highlight has go to be that rather dashing indigo poncho. Surely with so much experience assassinating people such a conspicuous garment would not have passed pre-mission planning. You can also pummel enemies with bricks of the finest cocaine. The war on drugs, ey?

Minecraft: Dungeons

We haven’t had a Minecraft spin off in a while so Mojang has cooked a narrative dungeon crawling, co op adventure called Minecraft: Dungeons. Though not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea, you watch as it sells like hotcakes upon release in 2019.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers

Aimed an older, nostalgic audience, Nickelodeon Kart Racers regroups fan favorite characters from the children’s TV network’s biggest franchises into a Mario Kart-esque racing game. A party game by definition, Nickelodeon Kart Racers has everything you’d expect with abilities, a host of characters, maps, and that fun-loving Nickelodeon primer painted on top for good measure.

Just Cause 4

We’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited about Just Cause 4. Avalanche systematically outdo themselves with some of the most forward thinking environmental graphics and explosives physics. In this trailer, we get a glimpse of Rico’s nemesis Gabriela Morales, who is virtually the perfect female counterpart to our favorite thick-accented fearless hero.
