Masashi Kishimoto’s tour de force of a manga is certainly no longer alien to Western audiences, with enthralling storylines and complex characters brought into the fold with every issue. Naruto is, simply put, a rags-to-riches success story, with video game adaptations coming out the yin-yang. Of the series’ many running subplots, Naruto’s rivalry with Sasuke is one of them. Here’s 7 reprisals of that original fight we think are worthy of feasting your eyes upon:
7. Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles (2005)
Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles could be said to be a complete and utter re-imagining of the manga, and it really shows in this one particular fight scene. Naruto and Sasuke have to fight to the death in order to save a prisoner. Luckily, Kakashi shows up on time to kick the captor ninja’s ass and save them from killing each other.
6. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (2005)
This one seems to have come out of the blue! Sasuke was just out and about, minding his own business, and into the scene strolls Naruto with a chip on his shoulder. The two get to thrashing each other immediately, until Ino and Sakura show up.
5. Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution (2007)
This time, Naruto & Sasuke’s combat isn’t sourced from any particular plotline within the anime or manga. Sasuke shows up to his final chunin exam on time, unlike in the show, but is challenged by a young, cocky Naruto. Guess who gets a can of whoop-ass opened on their ass?
4. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm (2008)
One of the most memorable fights between these furious foes forms the basis of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm’s final mission, the sequence of events remaining very faithful to the manga’s depiction. Naruto trying to catch up to Sasuke before he could reach Orochimaru’s temple finally exploded into open conflict at the Valley of the End, a fight marked with memorable rasengan and chidori punches.
3. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 (2010)
Naruto and Sakura’s first encounter with Sasuke after three years of separation was definitely not marked with cordiality. Instead, Sasuke, who in the intervening time had become Orochimaru’s disciple, had to go up against the re-formed Team 7, including Naruto. This battle was easily won by Sasuke, whose abilities had far surpassed Naruto.
2. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (2013)
After ambushing the Meeting of the 5 Kages, Sasuke finally catches up with and kills Danzo, but is then confronted by his former friends and mentors. Seeing the destruction Sasuke’d just wrought, Naruto then decides to go up against his eternal rival, with rasengan and chidori punches flying throughout, and yet ending in another stalemate, just like at the Valley of the End.
1. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (2016)
After working together to defeat Kaguya, Sasuke once again makes a face-heel turn, wanting to remake the shinobi world in his own image. Naruto promptly tries to stop him. The battle, depicted in Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, is hella epic, with QTEs and flashbacks whizzing by, ending with a tie, although Sasuke admits defeat.
