Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu And Eevee Versions Release November 16

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee have just been announced in a dazzling new trailer. The games see the Pokémon franchise return to the Kanto region with all of the original Pokémon that people have come to love over time. The games will be available November 16, 2018.

The games are a remake of Pokémon Yellow, and will be a classic Pokémon RPG experience but made a bit more friendly towards newcomers of the games. The way that you catch Pokémon has been changed drastically compared to all of the Pokémon games that came before these new two. In the new games you use the Switch’s joy-cons to throw the Pokéball, in an experience similar to catching Pokémon in Pokémon Go. The popular mobile Pokémon game will also be integrated with the upcoming games and allow you to send the Pokémon you caught in Pokémon Go to your Switch game.

The trailer shows a whole bunch of interesting things. We can see trainers riding on multiple Pokémon, such as Charizard, Lapras and Onix, which most likely indicates that Pokémon ride will be back. Pokémon ride was a function first seen in Sun and Moon that allows you to traverse the region on a Pokémon. They also show a little bit of the combat system which will most likely remain the same compared to previous games. The game will also feature double play, in which two players both play with one joy-con and can catch Pokémon together. The last noteworthy thing in the trailer is a special Pokéball controller. It seems to serve the same function as a joy-con but allows a Pokémon to be stored inside so you can take it out for a stroll.

These new games are a smart move by Nintendo to bring old fans back to the franchise, as they might still have nostalgic feelings towards the first generation. The integration of Pokémon Go is also brilliant as this might convince Pokémon Go players to try a real Pokémon game out. For die-hard Pokémon fans that were disappointed by the lack of a “real” Pokémon title, no need to worry as the Pokémon company has already tweeted out a confirmation that an official title is coming in 2019.

A free Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch has also been launched, called Pokémon Quest. The game turns all the beloved first generation Pokémon into Pokémon made of cubes, which makes some of them look absolutely ridiculous. It looks like a very lighthearted game and has probably been made just for fun. The combat is a lot more dynamic than the strategic turn based combat from the main games, and you play as the Pokémon themselves, not as a trainer. The game has already been released on the Switch for free and will come to mobile devices in the futures.
