Rage 2 Trailer Finally Lands After A Drawn Out Week Of Leaks

Rage 2 Trailer

Hot on the tails of last week’s series of leaks, Bethesda have finally confirmed that Rage 2 is indeed in development. Late today, the studio released an official announcement trailer for the title. The short video is packed with characters as lively and irreverent as each other and is packed with colorful visuals.

If you missed it, the whole ‘is or isn’t it’ in development saga began last week when Walmart inadvertently leaked a number of upcoming games that are expected to be showcased at E3. Among these was Rage 2

. Bethesda responded with a jocular tweet shunning Walmart for their poor marketing skills and strategically didn’t issue a denial.

Throughout last week, Rage’s twitter was inundated with various images of landmarks, like the Big Ben in London set to 5h14, crowd scenes populated by out of place computer-generated characters, a taxi next to a road sign stating ‘Road Reopens 5/14’, and some close-up shots of unsavory characters adorned with 514 markings on teeth and hands. Each of these images was plastered with splashes of neon pink, a recurring theme that also appears in the new video.

Yesterday, Rage tweeted out ‘C:\Desktop\Videos\AnnounceTrailer\Monday’. 514 turned out to indicate when more concrete details would surface and Bethesda followed through with the announcement trailer. Though lacking game play, the trailer is heavily infused with a chaotic post-apocalyptic vibe, plenty of gratuitous violence, and a general feel of Mad Max déjà vu. Sporting face paint and various obnoxious hairstyles, the characters are outlandish and heavily armed. Everything is very much over the top.

Rage 2 now has an official web site, with a brief plug explaining players will ‘Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together a true open world FPS experience where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.’ The game is set for the usual three platform release; PC, PS4 and Xbox. We also spotted that Avalanche Studios are involved in development.

Attached to the tweet for the trailer is a blurb stating that an official game play reveal will be released tomorrow at 3PM BST and 12AM HKT. Rage 2 is the gift that keeps on giving. Our deepest thanks to Walmart for their mistake. Every leak has a silver lining and all that.
