Another week, another Fortnite update. This time around Epic are introducing a brand spanking new double barrel shotgun, though it’s suspiciously similar to the booted double pump except in a nifty two-in-one package.
Epic explains, ‘devastating at close range, the Double Barrel Shotgun packs a punch with each of its 2 shots’. Close quarters combat is the name of the game here with a large spread, and be wary that distance signals a speedy drop in damage. It packs a 10 pellet ammo charge and a two second cooldown when swapping out guns.
Intent on keeping the new weapon a relative novelty, it will appear in game under either the epic or legendary umbrella, dealing 143 and 150 damage per shell at close range respectively. As always, pick up the double shooty at the usual chests, supply drops, vending machines, and off the floor.
The update also introduces Steady Storm, a limited time mode where players must contend with a single relentless closing storm with no safe zones or breaks. It’s all about staying aware of the storm’s approach, trying to predict its epicenter within the shrinking circle as best as possible. Steady Storm
Save The World, Fortnite’s pay-to-play base game also gets some love with a new Scandinavian inspired character going by the name of Ragnarok, The Dark Viking, as well as a bunch of new Horde Challenges for the week.
Per usual, Epic have packed the update with various fixes, balance tweaks, performance boosts, and improvements. Vending machines are getting a spawn rate rejigging, and the challenge menu can now be brought up while in game so you can keep track of what needs doing to complete the bill for any given week. Oh and for better or for worse, carts are getting a horn.
