In honor of Armistice Day, the day celebrated by many countries commemorating the end of World War 1, Battlefield 1 players organized a cease-fire in which everyone stopped shooting each other. As unbelievable as it sounds, for a brief moment, nearly all PvP action was halted in a game that revolves entirely around PvP.
In a Reddit thread on the in-game hold on hostilities
JeremyJenki’s thread on the Battlefield subreddit included a brief video showing the rare phenomenon of players simply just chilling in a PvP 1st-person shooter, ra ther than attempting to kill each other. Check out the clip below.
This is the 100 Year Anniversary of the End of WW1. On the 11th Hour we stopped fighting. from Battlefield
As you can see from the video, for the most part, everyone is dancing around not doing much – well, almost everyone. There’s one troll player who’s clearly not playing ball as he tries to mow down other players from his plane.
Despite the plane driver and the other troll at the end of the clip, the in-game armistice was quite successful. Many Redditors were actually surprised just how well players were able to come together and pull it off.
It’s not everyday you hear of game communities being populated by decent people – more often than not, we get stories of toxic players continually raising the bar on toxicity. With this in mind, it’s always great hearing when gamers come together to do something positive like this.
