Overwatch Update – The popular hero shooter franchise by Activision Blizzard, Overwatch 2, serves as a sequel to the original game. The update introduced several changes, including a shift in gameplay from 6v6 to 5v5, as well as the cancellation of the originally planned PvE mode.
Recently, Activision Blizzard announced a major update for Overwatch 2 through the Overwatch Spotlight, during which they removed the number 2 from the game’s title.
Has Overwatch Removed the Number 2 from Its Title?

During the recent Overwatch Spotlight event, Blizzard announced numerous updates, including a year-long story featuring Reign of Talon, a change to the game’s name, and several other enhancements.
Regarding the name change, Blizzard stated that moving forward, the game will drop the number 2 from its title and will simply be called Overwatch. There are clearly reasons behind this decision.
The development team stated that they removed the number 2 from the title because they believe the game is more than just a number or an expansion; it represents a living, dynamic universe.
Dan Games will also begin rotating their first season as part of the new storyline called Reign of Talon, which will run throughout 2026. This new narrative will include five additional seasons, with a fresh story arc debuting in Season 1 in 2027.
Introducing 10 New Heroes, with 5 Released Simultaneously

Blizzard not only revealed the story and name changes but also announced that they have prepared 10 new heroes for their game. However, only some of these heroes have been unveiled so far.
There are three heroes from Talon: Domina (Tank), Emre (DPS), and Mizuki (Support). Additionally, there are two heroes from Overwatch: Anran (Damage) and Jetpack Cat (Support). The remaining five heroes will be released gradually, one with each upcoming season.
Yes, the Cat with a Jetpack is one of the newest characters added to this game. At least, it makes sense in a world where Marmots operate robots and Gorilla scientists conduct research.
