A player of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has been banned—this popular fighting game is well-loved among fans of the genre. Naturally, many players are highly skilled at playing with their favorite characters.

But what would happen if one of those players became so skilled at this game that they ended up getting banned?

Reasons Why Players Get Banned in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising

Recently, a player of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising (GBVSR) and Twitter/X user known as Ryazo experienced an unusual event. It was revealed that his game account was banned after he achieved the Grand Master rank and collected 10,000 crystals using the character Anila. It’s important to note that within the community, this character is considered weak due to its slow attacks and limited aerial combat options.

The grinding activity carried out with that character was part of a challenge he was undertaking, which was live-streamed on his Twitch account. Shortly after completing the challenge, his account was immediately banned from the game.

He quickly shared the incident on social media and tried various methods to regain access to his account. Unfortunately, all of those efforts were unsuccessful.

A few days after being banned, Ryazo shared his thoughts on the situation. He believed that one reason for his ban was that he used a different account, not his main one, for this challenge. This might have caused the developers to overlook the fact that the player who scored high and quickly was actually a professional player.

Ryazo is not an unfamiliar name within the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising community. He is a professional player who actively competes in various tournaments. Throughout his career, he has achieved numerous titles and notable results in major competitions, including finishing in third place at the ARC World Tour Finals in 2024 and reaching the top 8 at the prestigious EVO tournament.

This incident immediately drew the attention of the fighting game community. Many fans considered the decision to be unfair, especially since all of Ryazo’s matches could be watched transparently on his streaming account.

One of the online tournament events, Paragon, even organized a special competition as a gesture of solidarity. Support also came from outside the competitive community. Leona Renee, the voice actress of the character Anila, expressed her sympathy and regret over what happened to Ryazo.

Ryazo explicitly stated that he did not employ any dishonest methods during the challenge. The purpose of undertaking this challenge was to demonstrate that even characters perceived as weak can reach the top if played with skill and proper strategy.

Developer’s Response

Shortly after this issue became widely discussed, the developer’s team restored access to the account. However, they expressed concern that their achievements on the leaderboard might not be restored.

Through their official account, the developer’s team explained that this issue occurred because the automatic security system mistakenly interpreted their activity. Due to earning points too rapidly and in large quantities, the system falsely identified their actions as abnormal and promptly banned their account.
