AI-Powered Steam Games — The year 2025 will serve as a stage for both well-known and independent (indie) developers to announce or release their latest games, especially on the Steam platform.
Recently, a survey has emerged indicating that a certain percentage of these games utilized AI during their development phase.
Survey Results: New Steam Games Utilizing AI
Ichiro Lambe, the CEO of Totally Human Media, shared a report detailing the use of Generative AI in new games and how many games on the Steam platform openly disclose their use of this technology.
Using the Steam API, Lambe discovered that 20 percent of Steam games released in 2025 have indicated the use of AI in some form, manner, or appearance. Additionally, he found that 60 percent of this AI usage is related to creating visual assets such as backgrounds, models, and more.
Not only in terms of visuals, Lambe also discovered that developers are using AI to create audio, market ing materials, promotions, text and narrative generation, as well as in coding and game logic. Additionally, it was found that AI is being utilized in general gameplay.
In the overall application of AI, only 7 percent (approximately 7,818 out of 114,126 games in the Steam Library) utilize it. Although this figure seems low, it represents a significant increase from the 1,000 games identified on the platform by Lambe a few years back.
List of Games Incorporating AI in Their Gameplay
According to the data, Lambe has identified several games that incorporate AI in their gameplay. Some of these include:
1. Nyric and Bitmagic: Allow players to create and bring 3D worlds to life.
2. InZOI: Players can generate textures for items using text input and create 3D objects from image input.
3. AIdventure, CLUAIDO, Survival Of Runt, Verbal Verdict: Serve as support for NPC behavior, responses to text input, and similar functions.
4. Street Flicker: AI acts as a medium for players to develop their own fighters.
5. Comedy Night: Detects sensitive content as stage background and face coverings, and flags names and descriptions that target specific groups.
