About Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

If you’re not familiar with this show, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime adaptation set in the Cyberpunk universe created by Mike Pondsmith. You might also recognize its video game adaptation, Cyberpunk 2077, developed by CD Projekt Red.
Without giving too much away, the initial installment of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners centers around David Martinez, a student who joins a mercenary gang following a family tragedy. In brief, he enhances his body with advanced military-grade cybernetic implants, allowing him to move at incredible speeds, almost becoming invisible to the naked eye. However, repeatedly using this technology also puts his life at risk.
The term “edgerunners” can be interpreted as referring to individuals whose bodies are equipped with so many cybernetic implants that only a small portion of their organic body remains, putting them at risk of losing control or experiencing cyberpsychosis. At the same time, the subtitle “edgerunners” attempts to convey the message of people who live their daily lives constantly risking their lives.
