Palworld Developer Offers Special Leave for Employees on February 28th to Play Monster Hunter Wilds

It has become a unique tradition among gamers to request time off from work—not for emergencies, but to enjoy a highly anticipated video game on its release day.

However, there are also unique situations where a company might opt to provide a special holiday instead of handling multiple leave requests from employees for the same day. One example of this is the approach taken by Pocketpair, the developer of Palworlds and Craftopia.

Through their Twitter account, they tweeted an announcement declaring February 28th as a special holiday.

The message above essentially states that Pocketpair received a “mysterious” letter from some of its employees indicating they “might not feel well tomorrow” and would be unable to come to work.

Considering taking a day off to play Monster Hunter Wilds?

Although the reason for granting this special day off wasn’t specified, it seems likely that it’s because Capcom’s game, Monster Hunter Wilds, is set to release on February 28th.

The Pocketpair team clarified that even though most of their employees will be on break, the further development of both Palworld and Craftopia will not be affected, and the update schedule will continue as planned.

For additional information, in 2022 Pocketpair did something similar for the release day of Elden Ring, created by FromSoftware.

It is undeniable that Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most anticipated games of the year. This anticipation has even led other developers, such as RGG Studio, to choose to release Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii a week earlier.
