Borderlands 4 – The development team at Gearbox Entertainment is currently working on their latest game, Borderlands 4. Although there is a lot of excitement from gamers, we have yet to receive more detailed information from the developers or even the release schedule.

Recently, the development team at Gearbox allowed a seriously ill Borderlands fan to try out their latest game.

Gearbox Entertainment Gives Borderlands Fan a Chance to Play Borderlands 4

In October 2024, Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Entertainment, reached out to a Borderlands fan named Caleb McAlpine who was seriously ill. Upon learning that the 37-year-old fan was living with a disability, the CEO extended an invitation to him.

Based on the information received, Caleb McAlpine shared that his illness has left him with an expected lifespan of about two years due to a cancer diagnosis. Acknowledging his limited time, as a Borderlands fan, he has a strong desire to play the new game from his beloved series.

An Incredible Experience He Had

In a recent Reddit forum post, he shared an experience that was a dream come true. He mentioned that Gearbox flew him and a friend to their headquarters in Frisco, Texas, to try out Borderlands 4 and meet the developers, including Pitchford himself.

He still can’t believe that he could have such an experience at his age, with not much time left. Caleb McAlpine expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who provided him with this incredible opportunity.

On the 20th of this month, Gearbox flew me and a friend first class. We received a tour of the studio and met some amazing developers from all the Borderlands games, including Randy, the CEO.

We had the chance to experience what they have developed for Borderlands 4 so far, and it was incredible. I am uncertain if I will still be around when the game is officially released, but I just want to express my gratitude to all of you for your care and support, which have helped make this possible. It was truly a remarkable experience, and it was absolutely amazing.

We stayed at the Omni, a place frequented by celebrities, and the hotel wanted to do something nice for us. So, we received a VIP tour of all the facilities. Needless to say, as a big fan, I have a lot to say about this, lol.

Thank you, everyone.

Caleb McAlpine
