A New Pokémon Has Been Revealed; Melmetal, Meltan’s Evolution

A new Pokémon called Melmetal has just been revealed and it’s one big boy. The behemoth of a Pokémon is the result of multiple Meltan melting together which clearly makes it the evolution of the small metal Pokémon we’ve all come to love. Although the name Melmetal is quite silly, the Pokémon itself would be downright frightening if an angry one would cross your path.

Melmetal’s reveal came from a video that was uploaded on the official Pokémon YouTube account. In the video, Professor Willow and Professor Oak are once again working together in a Pokémon Go and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee crossover. This time they have solved the final mystery behind Meltan which is the discovery that multiple Meltan can merge together to evolve into the metal golem Melmetal. Take a look at the video yourself.

According to the official Pokémon website, Melmetal is a pure Steel-type Pokémon and is the Hex Nut Pokémon. It is an ancient Pokémon that hasn’t been seen for thousands of years but used to be worshipped for his ability to create metal. It’s vastly stronger than Meltan and is incredibly bulky due to its massive size. Since its body is mostly made of out liquid metal it’s able to extend bodyparts to deliver devastating punches.

Evolving Meltan into Melmetal won’t be as straightforward as most other Pokémon. It’s the first Pokémon whose evolution is completely exclusive to Pokémon Go. In order to evolve Meltan you will need a total of 400 Meltan candies. You will receive these Meltan candies in the same way as you receive candies for other Pokémon such as catching Meltan, sending it to professor Willow or by traveling around with Meltan as your partner Pokémon.

Although Meltan and Melmetal are not generation 1 Pokémon you will be able to use them in your copy of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee. All you need to do is send the Pokémon over from your Pokémon Go account to your copy of the game and then you can have fun obliterating everyone with this metal goliath. Once again, just as a reminder, this thing is massive.
