As if the hype train wasn’t already reaching maximum velocity in anticipation of the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 next Friday October 26th, Rockstar has released a bona fide launch trailer to ratchet up the fervor even more. In the lead up to release, every game needs a launch trailer and you won’t catch us saying no to more Red Dead Redemption 2 content.
In keeping with the feel of past trailers and gameplay features for the epic outlaw adventure, the trailer is a snappy, gritty affair that delves a little deeper into the personal motivations behind the members of the notorious van der Linde gang.
We also get a glimpse of what might be an overall story arc in the form of final big heist that could pull the gang apart, which van der Linde feels reticent about given the gang is like family to him. Arthur Morgan, the playable protagonist, is apparently ready to part ways with the gang and draw away from his life as a rogue outlaw. Loyalty and differing desires appear to be at the crux of the narrative in the game.
In the same vein, a possible nemesis is teased in what appears to be the leader of a rival gang of outlaws who seems on a dogged mission to take van der Linde’s life.
Noteworthy is also a series of action packed heist and a one on one with a fierce grizzly. With past features highlighting how the wildlife of Red Dead Redemption 2 will play a big part in the open world, we fully expect wild encounters to be a common occurrence.
With less than a week to go until launch, today’s trailer takes the meaning of teaser to new heights and we are quite literally chomping at the bit in anticipation of playing Rockstar’s latest opus.
