An update notification came yesterday in Fortnite’s “Message of the Day” revealing that the game would soon be seeing the addition of a brand new vehicle called the “Quadcrasher.” This slick ride to get around town will also possess an extremely powerful ability – it can smash through structures!
Here’s a screencap of the “Message of the Day” players received just hours ago.
As you can see in the middle picture, the Quadcrasher looks pretty mean. That front end with the large plow definitely looks like it’s meant to ram into things. The caption reads: “Charge the boost to crash through structures or get some air!”
The fact that the Quadcrasher can help destroy structures means that it could potentially be a game-changing vehicle. As the current meta end-game strategy of building a giant structure and just camping out top waiting for the storm to blow in leads to a rather uneventful finale, the Quadcrasher could be Epic’s attempt to shake things up a bit and force players into adopting different strategies in the game’s final minutes.
As the company has been pushing really heavily to mold Fortnite into a major esports contender, it’s really important for them to keep the game’s action constant and exciting. Stalling/hiding/camping tactics don’t really make for an entertaining watch, and yet, given the nature of the game have become very viable and popular strategies. The tricky aspect of simply adding in vehicles and weapons that can straight up decimate structures to prevent reliance on this sort of play, is balancing them to make building structures still have some strategic use.
We’ll be finding out just how strong the Quadcrasher is shortly. Seeing how it’s already appeared in the “Message of the Day,” the vehicle could make its way into the game as early as next week!
