Red Dead Redemption 2 Needs An Eye-Watering 105 GB Of Storage

Red Dead Redemption 2 requires a staggering minimum of 105 GB of free space to install as revealed by the box art for the Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Pro Bundle. Ensconced in the fine print on the box’s back over of Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 + game marketing push is a line clearly stating the storage requirements, which are by any standard gargantuan.

By no means the largest we’ve seen, it does rank up there, especially if consider a big fuss was made over breaking through the 50 GB barrier only a few short years ago. I, for one, will have to do some serious spring (autumn?) cleaning just to make enough space. Though sizes vary from console to console, Xbox One owners can confidently expect a Red Dead Redemption 2 file size in a similar ballpark as the PlayStation 4 install.

The bundle also re-confirms what we learned last week with the Red Dead Online announcement; PlayStation 4 owners will have access to ‘select online content first’, while Xbox One players get the goods 30 days later. As for what shape this ‘select content’ will take, we expect the usual offering of skins and gear, but our guess is as good as anyone’s at this point given we know very little about Red Dead Online gameplay.

Interestingly, the box also specifies online play supports between 2 and 32 players, which is a two player increase from developer Rockstar’s last online venture, Grand Theft Auto Online. We’ll know more when the Beta arrives in November.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases in less than a month on October 26th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
