Despite being the 7th expansion in Blizzard’s long running World of Warcraft series, “Battle for Azeroth” has broken all previous day one sales records to become their fastest-selling expansion ever. According to the official press release on Business Wire, Blizzard revealed that Battle for Azeroth had sold over 3.4 million copies on the first day of its release, making it not only the fastest selling WoW game, but also one of the “fastest-selling PC games of all time.”
Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment shared some of his thoughts regarding the game’s outstanding sales performance:
“Battle for Azeroth is a definitive chapter in the Horde and Alliance conflict at the heart of Warcraft, and it’s been thrilling to see players representing their factions in record numbers and embarking on their war campaigns – not to mention joining in ourselves. But the launch is just he beginning of this conflict. More epic content is coming to World of Warcraft in the weeks ahead, and we can’t wait for players to experience the full story as it unfolds over the course of the expansion.”
