New Smash Bros. Gameplay Video Of King K Rool And Solid Snake

Yesterday was the first day of Gamescom, the biggest gaming and entertainment expo in Europe. Nintendo took the opportunity to showcase a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gameplay video featuring some of their most hyped characters: Donkey Kong nemesis King K. Rool versus Metal Gear’s Solid Snake.

King K. Rule is a completely new fighter introduced into the long running fighting franchise. On the other hand, Solid Snake made an appearance nearly 10 years ago in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. It seems he’s received some tweaks and adjustments for SSBU making him a lot quicker than how he played before. Here’s the video uploaded by Nintendo France.

King K. Rool looks extremely powerful. One particular move of his that stood out was his projectile attack. He can whip out a blunderbuss and shoot an actual cannon ball at his opponent. It seems like he can even control the angle of the shot as well.

Here, the cannon shot is moving directly forward. In the bottom screen cap, it looks like it’s at a 45 degree angle.

What’s craziest about this ability is that the ball moves slow enough that even if you miss your opponent while firing it, you can still knock them into it dealing insane amounts of damage. This is precisely what happens in the video: King K. Rool misses the 45 degree angle shot but then does a forward air attack hitting Solid Snake into the cannon ball. Here’s the exact moment where this happens. You can see Snake in the top right a moment before making impact with King K. Rool’s projectile.

His “Final Smash” is even more ridiculous and I feel that a screen cap won’t do it justice. You’ll just have to watch the video to see it in all its over-the-top glory.
