A new expansion has been released for Ni No Kuni 2 that is completely free of charge. The new expansion adds a whole bunch of content to play through, most notably of which is an entirely new questline that will take you through the entire game world.
While playing through the new quest you will come face to face with two new bosses that have been introduced to the game; Zeta and Blackhart. Zeta looks somewhat like a pixie and fairy and is mischievous according to her boss battle subtext. Blackhart, on the other hand, seems to just be a dragon. He is called the awakened one so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the final fight in the quest. Both bosses look just as whimsical and lively as the rest of the game which means that they fit right in. Once you have completed the new story, additional quests and rewards can be acquired.
Besides this new quest, the expansion also introduces new floors to the Faraway Forest dungeon. Clearing these floors is not only more of a challenge for you, but it will also reward you with some new in-game cosmetics that you can use to dress up your characters.
There is a season pass available for Ni No Kuni 2 although this pass is not required in order to play the new expansion. However, Bandai Namco has already revealed that they will release more expansion for the game in the future that will only be available to people that bought a season pass. The season pass can be easily purchased on Steam or through the PlayStation store for $19.99.
The first DLC arrives next winter which will include a “puzzling dungeon”, which just seems like a long complicated dungeon for you to explore and discover. The third expansion arrives in 2019 and sounds much more promising as it will introduce a whole new story to the game and a bunch of new features. More detail on both of these expansions will be released in the future.
