One of Overwatch’s most liked personalities has decided to leave competitive Overwatch and return to streaming. Brandon “Seagull” Larned has left Dallas Fuel in order to get back into full-time streaming which is where he gathered most of his following and popularity over the years of being a professional gamer.

Seagull broke the news by himself on stream today by writing a short Tweet while live on stream, which has since also been uploaded as a video to his YouTube channel. Seagull has cited that his primary reason for returning to streaming is that he doesn’t want to let down his fans. He feels that he let down so many of his fans by not being able to stream due to the enormous amount of practice that pro-play requires.

Dallas Fuel also made their own statement regarding the news, in which they praise Seagull for the versatility that he brought to the team, being both able to play off-tank and DPS. They state that he is a role model for all other Overwatch players and that they should learn from the immense skill that Seagull possesses. They said that he left the team on good terms and that they support his decision to return to streaming.

It is somewhat sad and slightly shocking that one of the Overwatch’s first professional players has left the scene so suddenly. Seagull first made a splash in the scene when he joined Team Envy in 2017 and they quickly became the best team in North America, even winning Overwatch Contenders.

On the other hand, Seagull’s reasons for returning to streaming make a lot of sense as well. He currently has around 750,000 followers on Twitch and more than 600,000 subscribers on YouTube. These people are the ones that ultimately got him as famous as he now is. Feeling that you have consistently disappointed such a large amount of people on a daily basis must indeed take a toll on you. While a sad day for professional Overwatch, it is a great day for entertainment as one of Overwatch’s most enjoyable streamers is finally making a return.
