These are some of the hottest mobile RPG games in Asia so far this year.
1. Làng Lá Phiêu Lưu Ký
This is one of the few RPG mobile games originated from Vietnam. Làng Lá Phiêu Lưu Ký sets in the world of Naruto and is quite similar to the classic side-scrolling 2D Maple Story or Shinobi Online. The game features its own systems and does not “borrow” from China manga RPG games.
For example, Làng Lá Phiêu Lưu Ký has built-in trading system which is very rare among manga/anime mobile RPG games on the market at the moment. And that’s why the game gets a lot of attention of hardcore gamers.
2. Darkness Rises
Darkness Rises (previously Dark Avenger 3) was first announced by Nexon in November, 2016. And the international version of Darkness Rises has launched in April this year, about 9 months later than the Korean version.
The game’s graphics is its strongest point and is what attracts players the most. It’s all in 3D, built using Unreal Engine 4. Comparing to previous versions, Darkness Rises now has extremely high graphics quality which goes well with the ARPG genre to give you a satisfying experience which is not so inferior to playing games on PC/Console.
3. Huyết Chiến Thiên Hạ
This year witnesses yet another “Made in Vietnam” mobile RPG game – Huyết Chiến Thiên Hạ. The game features a lot of Vietnamese legends like An Dương Vương, Thạch Sanh, Thánh Gióng, Âu Cơ ….
At the moment, you can download and explore the world of Huyết Chiến Thiên Hạ. The action packed ARPG game is currently in Open Beta phase, it has so much potential and hope that the developer will know the right direction.
4. League of Shadows
This Norse myths-themed game is attacking many of Asia’s charts, in Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, etc. League of Shadows
It has an interesting system that allows you to pick – equip/unequip passive abilities quickly to adapt to different combat situations. Of course, League of Shadows has RPG features like character building, stats points with some nice touch. There are also other RPG styled systems like skins, pets, mounts in the game.
5. Game of Honor
Game of Honor will stun players with its amazingly detailed 3D characters and landscapes, objects. They also come with nice particles and effects, in the style of European art.
The game focuses on social features (marriage, guild, trading, auction, voice chat, Master and Disciple) to keep the community active and its members close to each other. Lineage 2 Revolution is another European themed game and is the mobile version of Lineage 2 PC. There are 3 classes for you to pick to begin with: Warrior, Ranger and Mage. And you can also select between these 4 races: Human, Elf, Dark Elf and Dwarf. 30v30 is a great PvP mode of the game in which you can show the other players how skillful you are.
8. Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times
The game’s name gives away what its world is like: an chaotic apocalyptic world, under attack of Chaos army. Players, as adventurers, will have to fight their ways through dark dungeons, hunt for the sacred relics, upgrade their equipments to ascend to become the world’s saviours.
9. INFINITY OPS: Sci-Fi (Previously: Destiny Warfare)
Developed by Azur Interactive Games Limited, the company behind big names like Modern Strike Online, World War Heroes: WW2, INFINITY OPS: Sci-Fi is a high quality game you would not want to miss this year.
The game sets in a near future on Earth when natural resources have run out and technology is not much of help. To solve the problem, humanity chooses to seek new resources in the space and it then leads to endless intergalactic wars. Getting started, players have to choose a side they want to fight and die for on the way to victory.
INFINITY OPS is a science fiction game and you will have access to many technologically advanced weapons. You can join in fights in space, under conditions like of “real space”: you can walk, jump more easily and a bit further which might affect how you move and fight against your opponents.
10. Trảm Thần Mobile
Trảm Thần Mobile is a 2.5D mobile ARPG launched recently on Vietnamese market. The game has a very interesting story where gods have gone mad and decided to put fate of humanity in the hands of demons. Players, as a Human – God – Demon hybrid now have to kill both gods and demons to set the humanity free once again. And in order to do that, you – a player have to show no mercy, kill anyone that attempts to stop you from achieving your goal.
11. Maze: Shadow of Light
Maze: Shadow of Light looks like a traditional ARPG at first but in fact features many ground breaking features and systems, Tag Action for example. With Tag Action, you can switch back and forth between characters (Heroes, Guardians) to perform special combos.
The world of Maze: Shadow of Light is a world of magic and fantasy creatures which is told by a great story (the Story mode has 50 consecutive arcs). And in that world, you will to fight a lot of fights as 1 of the 3 main characters: Sina – Assassin, Resiak – Warrior and Rai – Mage against the merciless Diabolus.
Like in many other mobile ARPG games, you can control your character by using a virtual joystick on the left and skill buttons on the right side of the screen.
12. Royal Blood
Mobile game Royal Blood is an open field MMORPG developed by Gamevil – one of the top Korean developers. The game got out of Closed Beta phase and launched globally last June, for both iOS and Android.
The game is PVP-focused and is designed to give players experience close to how they play a MMORPG game on PC: features large maps, beautifully crafted 3D graphics, community events ….
13. Cổ Kiếm Truyền Kỳ
Cổ Kiếm Truyền Kỳ is a Chinese martial arts fantasy game. It’s another MMORPG game with decent looking graphics. But the game in fact does not require a really good device to be able to run on, thanks to its game engine.
Like many RPG games on the market at the moment, Cổ Kiếm Truyền Kỳ also offers its players an Auto system that can automatically train, farm, do quests. But that’s not all, new systems come at specific levels and there are many things for you to explore in-game.
14. Xạ Điêu Quần Hiệp Truyện 3D
If you are a fan of Chinese martial arts movies/books, you should have heard of Jin Yong. Xạ Điêu Quần Hiệp Truyện 3D sets in the world of one of Jin Yong’s stories.
As a martial arts game, Xạ Điêu Quần Hiệp Truyện 3D is action packed and has a lot of familiar special moves you might remember reading from stories. The game itself is a bit different from other games of the same genre as there is not a equipment system and you have other ways to boost your characters’ power but that’s absolutely not a down point of the game. However, some players might find characters’ chibi (q-style) design a bit disappointing.
