Nintendo is no stranger to having huge crowds at E3. Always a fan favorite company, they regularly get thousands of people coming into their booth at gaming’s biggest event of the year. Last year, there was actually a massive stampede of people trying to make it to their booth to test out Super Mario Odyssey. In an attempt to better control the masses of people at their booth and give people an opportunity to play their demo of the new Smash Bros., they have come up with a new system of allocating time to their fans. In previous E3 events, players simply had to just line up and queue for a chance to play new games. This often resulted in tons of people just sitting around for hours at the Nintendo booth, making the booth feel very cramped.
This year, Nintendo has created a time table of sorts where attendees who have already purchased their tickets can register for a specific time to come and play the game. This should dramatically reduce the amount of people just waiting around. Similarly, it gives fans the opportunity to go wander around and see other areas of the show while waiting for their time slot to arrive.
According to their official announcement, the way it will work is as follows:
It’s worth highlighting that there are only a limited number of time slots available so if you’re planning to go, you should be looking to secure your slot as soon as possible.
Another interesting thing worth noting from the announcement is that any fans who are seen with their Switch while wandering around the Nintendo booth will receive an “exclusive, collectible Nintendo Switch pin.” Pretty cool right?
Can’t wait for E3 to get started so we can get some more Smash news! Nintendo has been pretty secretive so far about the game and all we really have to go on is the tiny teaser they released back in March. Haven’t seen it yet? Have a quick look below:
