Amazing Looking Pink Mercy Skin Benefits Charity

Mercy, everybody’s favorite guardian angel, is putting her fame to good use by receiving a completely pink charity skin. Besides looking awesome, the skin will raise money for charity, as 100% of the profits will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The skin won’t be coming through lootboxes, and has to be bought in the store for $15. The skin is available now through May 21.

In the developer update Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan states “Breast cancer is the most common cancer that affects women, many of us on the Overwatch 

team have friends have family that have been personally affected by this devastating disease.” he goes on to say “In Overwatch, Mercy is a symbol of helping and healing.” Making Mercy an obvious choice for skin that looks to raise money for breast cancer research.

According to Kaplan the BCRF is the world’s leading private funder of breast cancer research, and that with this pink mercy skin they are looking to make a difference. He adds that he has seen how inspirational the gaming community can be and that he would love to see the community help the Overwatch team in this effort.

If you are unable to afford the skin or are just not interested in playing as a pink mercy than fear not, there will be other ways in which you can contribute to the BCRF charity. Kaplan has announced that they will be organizing unique charity streams, where viewers get a chance to unlock player icons and sprays that will also help benefit the BCRF. Furthermore pink T-shirts featuring the new Mercy skin have been released on the blizzard store, and they look absolutely fantastic. The profits of these T-shirts will obviously go to the charity as well.

The schedule of the charity streams and the awards for participating in them have been released on the website, which can be found here. The Overwatch team has stated that they will announce the total donated amount after the promotion ends on May 21. They will also donate a guaranteed minimum amount of $250,000.
