Last week, the Mordhau community, known for its Medieval Fighting game, hosted an unusual tournament called the Mordhau Fistfighting Championship. What’s more intriguing is that this tournament had a unique twist compared to previous ones.

Members of this gaming community not only organize unarmed battles but also hold fundraisers to support one of their players who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Mordhau Community Raises Funds to Support Player with Cancer

The 9th Mordhau Fistfighting Championship tournament, organized by the community, is raising money for Cameron Elliot, a 21-year-old Mordhau player. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of aggressive blood cancer.

After several months of spending a significant amount on his treatment, Cameron Ellion’s family now faces a massive pile of medical expenses that has impacted their financial situation.

Cameron mentioned that it’s not surprising that his country’s healthcare system has caused him difficulties. He shared this in a video released last week.

Overall, Cameron’s medical expenses have exceeded 36,000 US Dollars. The family’s savings could only cover half of the costs, leaving them with a debt of 18,000 US Dollars.

In this MFC tournament, 64 participants competed and managed to raise a minimum of 2,500 US Dollars, to help support the family of Cameron Elliot.

Developer Joins the Fundraising Effort

Observing the unity among the players of the game Mordhau, the developer, Triternion, endorsed the tournament they organized. The developer also contributed to making the event more festive by increasing the gold prizes and providing DLC rewards to the winners.

It seems the developer also noticed that the gaming community they built has a positive essence behind the “toxicity” of the Mordhau community. This proves that behind toxic players, there are still kind-hearted individuals.

Philip Hall, who is one of the event organizers, explained that in this small community, the person engaging in trash talk or trolling in the chat could be the same person who helps you with your cancer treatment expenses tomorrow.

And naturally, this medieval hand-to-hand combat event without weapons was a success, with hundreds of spectators watching the match and the fundraising helping to ease Cameron Elliot’s burden.
